- *An ideal candidate will possess the following skills or experience:** We are seeking an entry level employee with a basic to intermediate background in the following areas:
- **Data Analysis & Interpretation:** Experience in conducting routine data analysis by collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and initial insights.
- **Reporting & Visualization:** Experience in preparing and presenting findings through clear and effective reports, charts, and dashboards.
- **Data Integrity & Testing:** Skills in validating data accuracy and testing new reports or dashboards to ensure they meet business requirements.
- **Data Tools & Technology:** Skilled in using data querying languages including SQL and Python. Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- *Other Details:**
- **Location**: LASERS is easily accessed near the I-10 / I-12 split on Essen Lane. The building is far from the downtown congestion, and the facility provides ample parking, on-site security, and a dedicated employee entrance.

Minimum Qualifications ----------------------
: Three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
An associate’s degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field; OR
A master’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information --------------------------------
: **Job Duties:**
Business Technology Analyst 1 will:
- Conduct routine data analysis by collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and initial insights.
- Prepare and present findings through reports, charts, and dashboards for review by senior analysts and business stakeholders.
- Observe senior analysts in meetings with stakeholders to understand how business needs are translated into data requirements and analytical projects.
- Communicate with business users to explain the data presented in reports and dashboards and how it relates to their operations.

- *Appointment Type**: Probational, Promotional, Detail to Special Duty, or Job Appointment
- *LASERS requires all new hires to serve a minimum of eighteen (18) months not to exceed twenty-four (24) months in probational status including permanent state employees.**
