Position: Environmental Construction Laborer
Company: A-Zone Environmental Services, LLC, an environmental field services contractor, is seeking an experienced Construction Laborer to join our growing team. Based in Charles Town, West Virginia, A-Zone project sites are primarily located in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC.
Job Description: The position involves heavy labor on various tasks associated with environmental construction activities, including, but not limited to: excavations, landfill and waste-cell construction, stormwater repairs and construction, demolition, road rehabilitation, clearing and grubbing, and other restoration services. Job responsibilities may include installation and maintenance of silt fencing, excavation using a variety of hand tools, operation and maintenance of pumps and pressure washer, and overseeing delivery and off-loading of supplies and materials. Occasional use of respirators, protective suits, and other personal protective equipment may be required. Experience operating and maintaining small heavy equipment is a plus (i.e., mini-excavator).
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Must possess excellent oral communication skills and must work well with staff and subcontractors.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school. College or technical training courses in related field a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
A valid driver’s license is required with a minimum 5 year clean driving record. A CDL is preferred. Also, preferred is 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate and a current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificate; however, training will be provided for qualified entry-level candidates. Employment is dependent upon the findings of a background check.
Physical Requirements : Work is outdoors and may be performed under extreme weather conditions including hot and cold ambient temperatures. Tasks involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and using a force equal to lifting 50 to 100 pounds. Employment is dependent upon passing drug and alcohol screening and physical examination by a medical professional for the anticipated work requirements. The company conducts random drug/alcohol screening.
Travel: Must be willing to travel at least 75% of the time.
Salary: This is a full-time, hourly position. A-Zone provides a competitive benefits package.
