Our client, a Los Angeles-based wholesale apparel business, is seeking a Director of Apparel Sourcing & Production to oversee the end-to-end sourcing and production processes. This role is critical to meet the demand of an ever-evolving supply chain, with a focus on sourcing outside of China. Our client is looking for someone who can broaden their supplier base globally via your existing relationships. Their customers include Walmart, Target, Mid-Tier Department Stores (Macy’s, Kohl’s, JC Penney, Belk, Dillard’s), Off-Price Channel (Ross, Burlington, TJ Maxx), and Subscription (Stitch Fix). Must have experience with Target or Walmart. Through collaboration with cross-functional teams, this role ensures efficient sourcing, production, inventory management, and distribution of apparel products while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery timelines. This is not a hybrid or remote work environment. Expectations are to be on site daily for the business needs. The work environment is anOffice and Warehouse setting with travel overseas to supplier sites and trade shows.
- The annual salary range for this role is 200-225,000.
Responsibilities:- Reduce lead times and inventory costs.
- Increase supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.
- Enhance supplier and customer satisfaction.
Production & Sourcing: - Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Align sourcing and production processes with market trends, seasonal demands, and wholesale distribution needs.
Vendor and Supplier Relations: - Build and maintain relationships with global suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance and compliance with ethical sourcing standards.
Inventory and Distribution Management: - Oversee inventory planning and control to meet demand while minimizing excess stock.
- Coordinate with logistics partners to optimize shipping and reduce costs.
Production Planning:- Oversee production scheduling to align with sales forecasts and wholesale order timelines.
Team Leadership: - Manage and mentor a team of production and sourcing professionals.
- Promote collaboration between supply chain, design, sales, and finance teams.
Data-Driven Decision Making: - Utilize data analytics to forecast demand, optimize inventory levels, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare reports and KPIs to track supply chain performance and present insights to leadership.
Compliance and Risk Management:- Ensure adherence to trade regulations, import/export requirements, and sustainability standards.
- Mitigate supply chain risks through contingency planning and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in sourcing and production management within the apparel industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of wholesale distribution networks and global sourcing.
- Expertise in supply chain software and ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation, costing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
