General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. Under general supervision and with regular review, this position supports the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity. Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and suggestions, outlining possible approaches, sources or information, and potential problems to be encountered with work reviewed regularly for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Tasks involve the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance. Documents findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to engineering staff. Contacts are primarily internal with infrequent inter-organization or customer contact on routine matters. May provide direction to design or technician staff. **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems. + Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles. + Obtains and analyzes test data. + Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions. We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.50182 **Job Qualifications:** + Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. + Must have a complete understanding of basic system level electrical engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties. + Needs to understand simple interfaces, including connectors, rack mounting, assembling and interfacing multiple devices. Along with using electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters and multimeters) to troubleshoot, debug and fix various electrical system issues during the prototype and test phase. + Must understand and able to work with computer hardware and interfaces, from networking to motherboards, peripherals, USB and hard drives. + Understanding of various electrical interfaces, from video(NTSC, SDI, DVI, HDMI, and Display Port) to serial(RS232, RS422, USB), along with audio interfaces is desired. + Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. + Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks. + Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required. **Salary:** $68,770 - $116,193 **Travel Percentage Required** 0 - 25 **Relocation Assistance Provided** Not Provided **US Citizenship Required?** Yes **Clearance Required?** Desired **Clearance Level** Entry-Level (0-2 years) **Workstyle** Hybrid General Atomics is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
