Location: Canada, Remote (onsite 3-4 times per fiscal year)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Warehouse / ETL Developer to support the Justice Information Management System project - a large-scale data integration initiative aimed at consolidating and redesigning multiple disjointed reporting data marts into a unified, efficient, and scalable Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This role is critical in enabling better governance, availability, and reporting of court data through advanced data architecture and ETL processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior data architects, developers, and business stakeholders to design, build, test, and deploy ETL workflows that transform legacy data into actionable intelligence within a modernized reporting environment. This position requires strong experience in data modeling, star schema, and hands-on development of data pipelines and warehousing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze existing data marts and legacy structures
• Perform detailed data profiling and develop mapping specifications
• Design, develop, and test ETL processes to load data into the new EDW
• Build and validate dimensions and fact tables, including test queries and QA checks
• Create database objects such as views, tables, and stored procedures for data examination
• Stage and transform legacy data to align with the new data model
• Investigate and resolve defects in data structures and pipelines
• Collaborate with architects, SMEs, and developers to ensure data accuracy and usability
• Document findings and contribute feedback during project close-out

General Application Development Duties:

• Deliver quality application development and programming tasks throughout the system development lifecycle
• Liaise with business units to gather and validate requirements aligned with strategic goals
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that meets functional and technical specifications
• Contribute to full product deployments and provide support post-implementation
• Analyze impacts of functional design on existing applications
• Develop technical designs and database structures for complex applications
• Maintain accurate and updated technical documentation
• Conduct effective unit testing and ensure test coverage of critical components
• Handle production support issues and fix bugs efficiently
• Track and report work status, time spent, and progress updates
• Support release management by coordinating schedules, documenting versions, and managing service requests

Requirements:

• College or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study
• Proposed resource has agreed to a Criminal Records Check and Enhanced Security Clearance including a credit check prior to commencement

• Experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience creating user training materials, technical documentation, and platform support resources
• Experience working as an Application Developer within an enterprise IT environment
• Experience working in a data warehouse/business intelligence or relevant data environment in either a development or support role
• Knowledge of ETL processes and tools, with hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines for transforming and loading data from multiple sources into data warehouses

• Experience with Agile methodology
• Experience with smoke testing, unit testing, system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing
• Experience with User Acceptance Testing processes on large, complex, multi-stakeholder environments
• Experience working in the public sector
