Schedule: Full Time Time : Days 9am-5pm Mon-Friday Location: 480 WEST CENTRAL PARKWAY, Altamonte Springs, 32714 The role you’ll contribute: The Health Information Management Technician retrieves documents and assembles patient charts and records for filing and ensures accuracy and completeness of patient health information and medical records.
The value you’ll bring to the team: - Provides maintenance and ensures accuracy of patient medical records (90%) * Assembles patient medical records. * Picks up patient charts from Inpatient Unit and other departments and brings to HIM area for processing. Assembles admission documents for filing. Reviews charts and notifies others within department of missing patient required admission signature forms. * Communicates with physicians’ offices and other health care facilities to obtain necessary documentation and signatures. Communicates with Hospice of the Comforter Clinical Liaison and nurse Case Managers on obtaining most outstanding physicians required signature forms. * Follow-up regularly on interim orders and Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders. * Disassemble patient medical records after discharge, and ensure the record is accurate and complete for closing. * Complete daily CQI activities including various audits of patient information, and timely receipt of documentation from interdisciplinary staff. * Assist staff with requests regarding health information intake process and follow-up review of patient information. * Enter patient related demographic document tracking data into the department database. * File patient records as needed. * Update physician licensure information in Hospice of the Comforter system. * Assist with training of the new department volunteers, and with continual training of chart filing processes and chart location to the volunteers.
- Additional Duties and Responsibilities (5%) * Participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in services and other related activities. * Attends educational and developmental seminars and meetings, as deemed appropriate * Assists HIM Manager with special projects as assigned for review and auditing of HIM Process. * Checks voice mail change line; make corrections and additions to patient information in the system.
- Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by HIM Manager or designee. (5%)
Qualifications
What You Will Need: - High School diploma is required,
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in health information management or medical records is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical records rules and regulations required.
- Knowledge of filing and record retention requirements required.
