SCOPE OF WORK: Responsible for promoting the college’s brand and the marketing of college offerings. Along with leadership, this position will develop marketing strategies with a special emphasis on digital strategies and manage the execution, design and production of marketing projects. This position shall report to the President at Lakes Region Community College. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develops and implements comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies in collaboration with campus leaders.
Leads the college’s social media strategy and content development through all social media channels.
In cooperation with appropriate departments, assists with the development of copy and coordinates production and publication of promotional pieces and places advertising and press releases consistent with marketing objectives.
Monitors progress and quality of production work of outside vendors, including marketing agencies, production teams, and media partners.
Works with vendors on development and implementation of digital marketing strategies.
Coordinates, disseminates content and updates for website.
Utilizes assessment tools to evaluate marketing initiatives.
Assigns administrative access to the college website, social media networks, and texting platforms, and monitors usage.
Supports the college in the planning, promotion and marketing of college events.
Under the direction of the Campus Leadership Team, coordinates college-wide marketing plan.
Works with media outlets, agencies and individual college departments on strategic planning and implementation for both credit and non-credit programs and overall college branding.
Builds and maintains relations with faculty and staff, local media, and business partners.
Maintains a graphics, photographic, and video library and/or maintains digital records.
Manages a departmental budget and monitor and report out expenditure status.
Participates on the LRCC Community Engagement Committee in an ex-officio capacity.
Coordinates LRCC’s Campus Marketing Workgroup.
As assigned, attends workshops, seminars, and conferences for professional development.
Participates and represents LRCC’s best interest in meetings with the System-wide Marketing Team.
Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in marketing, communications, graphic arts, journalism, public relations, business management or related discipline.
Experience: Four (4) year’s experience in the field marketing, communications, graphic arts, journalism, public relations, business management or related experience.
Licensure/Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license and/or have access to transportation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Current MS Office software experience preferred. Two years of experience which shall have been associated with magazine or newspaper writing/editing, graphics, preparation of audiovisual or web-related material or other public relations experience.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of communications principles and practices. Considerable knowledge of the techniques of planning, composing, and editing writing diverse informational material. Considerable knowledge of English and composition. creative concept work, the printing industry, and world-wide web production. Knowledge of public relations and marketing techniques and procedures. Knowledge of various media needs and methods. Ability to appear before groups, speak effectively and answer questions from the audience. Ability to supervise a small staff of assistants in public relations work. Ability to seek out pertinent and newsworthy information. Ability to read proofs using standard proofreaders' marks. Ability to write audio and visual copy for both motion and still films and video tape for dissemination and utilization by the public. Ability to use a camera. Ability to design, write and layout newsletters and brochures. Ability to use a graphics page design. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental officials, employees and outside groups and individuals. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
