The Network Security Engineer will serve as a technical lead responsible for analyzing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across enterprise network environments. This role requires strong hands-on experience in risk assessment, vulnerability management, compliance evaluation, incident response, and audit preparation. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the organization's network security posture meets federal and state regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate has deep experience evaluating security controls, strengthening network defenses, and supporting cybersecurity initiatives within regulated environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform expert-level network security analysis across enterprise environments.
Conduct risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend remediation strategies.
Lead and support security incident response, documentation, and mitigation activities.
Evaluate and validate the effectiveness of network security controls, configurations, and policies.
Develop and maintain security documentation including reports, assessments, and audit artifacts.
Ensure compliance with federal/state cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., FISMA, NIST, ISO).
Assist in audit preparation by reviewing evidence, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring control readiness.
Collaborate with IT, security teams, and leadership to strengthen the organization's security posture.
Provide expert advice on improving network security architecture and implementing secure solutions.
5+ years of experience in network security engineering or enterprise cybersecurity.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Risk assessments
Vulnerability management
Security incident response
Experience evaluating, testing, and documenting security controls in regulated environments.
Experience preparing technical evidence for internal or external audits.
Strong understanding of security frameworks such as:
NIST
FISMA
ISO/IEC security standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with both technical teams and executives.
Experience working in government, public sector, or state agencies.
Experience supporting compliance-driven programs (e.g., public sector, healthcare, financial, federal/state audits).
Experience preparing audit deliverables, technical documentation, and remediation plans.
Experience designing or reviewing enterprise security architectures.
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
