FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

WTTG/WDCA – News Writer/Producer (Regular Full-Time)

Role Highlights:

  • Content Creation: Evaluate, edit, and organize stories, coordinating with reporters and anchors to produce engaging newscasts.

  • Multimedia Production: Send breaking news push alerts, write digital stories, and live stream content across platforms.

  • Visual Editing: Edit photos, graphics, and videos to enhance storytelling.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with directors, anchors/reporters, editors, managers, and other staff members.

  • Critical Thinking: Think critically under pressure and work professionally on individual assignments and as part of a cohesive team.

  • Active Participation: Actively participate in daily editorial, department, and production meetings.

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, reporting to the Executive Producer.

What You’re Bringing:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field with a minimum of three years of newsroom experience, preferably as a newscast producer.

  • Skills: Exceptional written, verbal, copy editing, and broadcast production skills with solid news judgment.

  • Storytelling: Excellent storyteller with experience in publishing content on digital and social platforms, including Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

  • Creativity: Creative, detail-oriented, and ability to find new ways to present information.

  • Professionalism: Ability to take direction and work under deadline pressure, consistently displaying a professional demeanor.

Candidates must provide writing samples and a reel/link of recent production work. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates will also be required to join the SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Local union for the off-air news unit.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $31.25-40.90 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
