Job Description Position Summary: The
Nutrition Assistant will work as part of an interdisciplinary team in order to support and promote health education, nutrition presentations, and other activities for our Bronx-based patients. Nutrition Assistant will assist with all Demo Kitchen and Food Insecurity Programming including cooking classes, demos, and tastings, waiting room presentations, workshops, food pantry, farmers market, and distributions. Associate will assist with admin tasks such as record keeping/data entry, referrals, scheduling appts, and making appt reminder calls.
Minimum Qualifications - High School diploma required. Associates or Bachelor's Degree a plus, ideally in Health Education, Nutrition, Community Health or related field of study.
- 1 years of related healthcare experience.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required.
- Good public speaking skills and communication skills are required.
- Food Handler Certification, a plus.
Key Duties - Assist with maintenance and inventory of La Cocinita, cooking classes, and cooking demos.
- Assist with all food insecurity programming and related admin tasks.
- Assist with waiting room presentations and nutrition education workshops (in person, virtual).
- Assist with new Life Enhancement Program
- Assists with recruiting patients for department activities and programs such as diabetes and cooking classes.
- Assist with nutrition admin tasks like addressing nutrition referrals, scheduling, and appt reminder calls.
- Assist with food insecurity programs and outreach events.
Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule: Onsite, Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 4 weekdays between M-F
Starting Compensation : Minimum $21.00 per hours; Maximum $21.00 per hour
