Job Description
Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented project manager with a passion for open-source technology? We are looking for a skilled Project Manager to lead complex, customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu Embedded Systems. In this role, you will oversee the coordination and successful delivery of projects, acting as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers.
This position is fully remote and open to candidates in the Americas region.
What You'll Be Doing
Manage projects through their full lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery and meeting both company and client expectations.
Oversee the deployment of Ubuntu images across a wide range of devices, including robots, IoT devices, edge gateways, PCs, and automotive systems.
Work closely with engineering teams to support custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and statements of work.
Facilitate client agreements on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth execution.
Communicate regularly with clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party partners, including Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, and IHVs.
Track project progress, report updates to management, and ensure alignment across teams.
Advocate for relevant technologies and solutions to customers.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality delivery standards.
Support different time zones and work flexible hours as needed.
Occasionally travel (up to four times a year) for team and client meetings.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in project management, particularly in delivering engineering services and managing software development teams.
Strong background in coordinating projects across diverse regions, including Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is preferred.
Familiarity with Linux and open-source software communities, along with a solid understanding of computer architecture.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong leadership skills with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Experience managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification is a plus.
