This is not a remote work position. Our headquarters is in State College, PA, which happens to be smack-dab in the epicenter of the Mid-Atlantic’s “Brain Belt”) , located in beautiful Happy Valley ; we’re close friends and neighbors with the Pennsylvania State University and less than a five (5) hour drive from seven (7) major metro areas (Baltimore, Buffalo, Cleveland, New York City, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington DC)!
As leaders in genomics and drug discovery, we map the resistance landscape of investigational drugs during preclinical development, informing lead candidate prioritization and compound optimization. Why the Research Technician Role is Important to Us Atlas Biotech is building research programs that require strong technical skills. The Research Technician is an entry level position that will develop a promising candidate into a technical scientist, focusing on applied research and experimental execution. You will work with our Research and Development team to execute laboratory tasks and experiments in conjunction with your supervising Sr. Research Scientist. You will be an integral part of a team of dedicated scientists and technicians tasked with developing novel products and assays. This work will range from performing routine tissue culture to executing clearly defined experiments leveraging various scientific techniques such as flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and deep mutational scanning screens. Success in this role will require strong technical wet-lab skills, deep curiosity, and clear communication and interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration across groups.
Essential Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To: Supervised Experimentation FTE: 45% | Daily
Conduct experiments developing and evaluating novel assays or executing defined protocols for clients.
Routine Laboratory Maintenance FTE: 45% | Daily
Perform general laboratory tasks, including maintaining cell lines (tissue culture), laboratory cleaning and sterilization, and waste disposal.
Documentation & Reporting FTE: 10% | Weekly
Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in a secure electronic/magnetic form on local and cloud-based servers per company standards.
General Requirements: - B.S. in biology, biochemistry, or similar life science degree.
- Effective, persuasive, and compelling communication skills are critical.
- Evidence of exceptional motivation and responsibility.
- High comfort level with technology, ELN/LIMS software, and other data management tools, including but not limited to all Microsoft Office products, online meeting tools, smartphones, and other technology tools. Knowledge/familiarity with other job-specific tools, including R/Python/MATLAB, Benchling, etc., is also a requirement.
- Background and investigative checks may be performed as part of the hiring process (this may include criminal, motor vehicle, employment/reference, and credit); results must be satisfactory to the company.

- Some local/regional/national/international travel is a possibility. This requires having a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and providing your own transportation to and from industry/business events, as needed. Infrequent overnight travel associated with industry/business events may also be necessary; must also be able to travel by air and/or train.
- If hired, must adhere to all company policies and procedures, safety requirements, and other prescribed best practices/industry standards.
Other Considerations: Company offices are in an integral office setting in a fully operational, controlled laboratory environment. Work is performed mainly in the designated laboratory area. Individuals entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment as defined in the company’s SOPs and safety manual. Individuals will have safety glasses, gloves, and a lab coat provided by the company. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.

The work requires individuals to talk, hear, stand, or sit for extended periods of time while using a computer, telephone, or other productivity devices to communicate with other team members and conduct business. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual frequently uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects and computer keyboards. The individual is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, squat, turn/twist, and smell. The individual must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
On a frequent and routine basis, this job also requires the individual to be physically present in a manufacturing area to communicate with others and conduct business. The noise levels in the facility can also vary widely in different regions, and specific workspace restrictions are also possible. Occasional sitting, standing, moving forward/back/side-to-side, and working around machinery and moving parts is possible; exposure to electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, sealants, solvents, and other compounds is possible.
