Asheville Community Movement keeps kids moving while they explore new activities and form new friendships. Our Movers and Shakers Summer Camp is held in our gymnastics facility and on our grounds with some off campus field trips. We incorporate many kinds of movement activities (Dance, traditional sports, hula hooping, archery, group games, outdoor play, etc) in addition to providing gymnastics instruction. We also provide enriching, creative, and fun activities like basket weaving, sewing, cooking, salve making, sun painting, etc throughout the day. We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, and active counselors to lead and supervise activities. 

What we look for in candidates:

• Proven experience working with school aged children (coaching, day care, babysitting, life guarding are all good experiences for Camp Counselor positions.)
• Compassionate, nurturing, positive people
• Energetic people who can be playful while still enforcing boundaries and good behavior
• Health conscious individuals who support ACMs efforts to keep the kids healthy and promote healthy lifestyles and behaviors
• Safety conscious individuals
• Reliable people who can make a commitment and show up on time
• Ability to teach children new skills
• Ability to drive medium size vans a plus
• CPR, lifesaving, first responder training a plus

Responsibilities

• Ensuring safety of campers during play and activities
• Leading planned activities
• Engaging with campers and providing a nurturing, welcoming environment
• Cleaning and organizing
• Communicating with management about issues and concerns
• Actively contributing to the daily success of camp
• Contributing to a positive work environment for all staff
