Job Title : Café Food & Beverage Server
Reports to : Café Lead

Status : Non-Exempt
Department : Cafe

Schedule : Part-Time M-F 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Café F&B Server is responsible for welcoming members and guests to the Cafe, taking food and beverage orders, and preparing the orders with the highest degree of quality and service. This position is responsible for providing excellent service and creating a positive atmosphere for all customers of the Cafe. The Café F&B Server must be flexible with their schedule as much as possible to provide additional coverage when needed. 

Essential Duties: 

• Greet/welcome members and guests to the Café within 15 seconds of the member or guest approaching the Café counter to place an order or ask a question.
• Take food and beverage orders, and prepare each order to the customer’s specifications with the highest degree of food and beverage quality.
• If the beverage order is for an alcoholic beverage, the Café Server is responsible to ensure that the customer is 21 years of age or older, is not showing signs of inebriation, and provides proper picture ID.
• Accurately handle Cafe sales, cash and credit card transactions. 
• Keep the Cafe neat, clean, and well-prepped/stocked. Follow all food prep checklists and recipes as provided by the Café Manager.
• Open and close the Cafe according to Cafe procedures.
• Ensure members’ and guests’ safety.
• Keep the dining area clean. 
• Be knowledgeable about all Café related events. 
• Be knowledgeable about all products served in the Café’.
• Operate juice bar, serve drinks and food, and make espresso drinks. Maintain needed supplies and cleanliness. 
• Upsell whenever possible. 
• Maintain an accurate cash register and end-of-shift Z-out register. Process cash and credit card transactions correctly and oversee the safekeeping of all money and other valuables. 
• Control waste of products by exercising proper food handling procedures and proper food rotation.
• Help keep the Club clean by picking up as needed when in other areas of the Club.
• Help lower theft by keeping all storeroom and café doors locked. 
• Advise Maintenance and Repair Person of facility problems or need for janitorial service. 
• Assist with training of newly hired Café servers.
• Obtain all permits needed to work in the Café’.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Maintain quality and service-oriented contacts with members, guests, and visitors. 
• Superior customer service.
• Ability to handle several tasks at the same time in an efficient and well-organized manner.
• Accurate in the handling of money, records, etc. 
• Skill in operating a cash register, computer. 
• Knowledge of preparation and presentation of all menu items.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or high school student.
• Six months of previous experience in a food service establishment.
• CPR certification.
• State of Washington Food Worker Card.
• Washington State Liquor Control Board Class 12 or Class 13 Mixologist Permit, as appropriate.
• Available to work varied schedule including nights and weekends.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, hear, talk, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms (rarely reaching above shoulders) and stoop; operate office machinery (calculators, phones, cash registers) operate a computer and keyboard espresso machine, panini grill and microwave. Also, this individual may experience frequent wrist bending/twisting and occasional bending at the waist. The employee will be called upon to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Wage Range: $16.66 - $18.00
