Street Outreach Worker

Position: FT- Street Outreach Worker ($21hr to $24hr)

Location: Lehigh Valley

Essential Functions of the Street Outreach Worker:

  • To become familiar with those locations within the program's geographical area of operation in which homeless and/or street youth frequent and any available community resources.
  • To facilitate information sessions and presentations with community based stakeholders.
  • To foster and maintain working relationships with other agencies that come into contact or work with homeless or street youth. 
  • To provide youth referrals and linkages to community based services. This includes tracking follow up and status of referrals and youth progress with services.
  • To have knowledge of and adhere to all safety practices as set forth in the Synergy Project Manual, Agency Personnel Policy and further set forth by direct supervisor.


Minimum Qualification of the Street Outreach Worker:

  • They shall possess a minimum of a high school diploma with at least 18 months experience working with adolescents.
  • A Bachelor's degree in human services or equivalent is preferred 
  • The Street Outreach Worker shall be a mature individual with the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of positive youth development in the Street Outreach program.
  • They will possess sound judgment and knowledge of adolescent development.
  • This individual will be organized and highly adept at managing multiple tasks and assignments. Successful team members are creative thinkers and flexible in their approaches to people and projects.
  • They will be comfortable in working in a wide variety of outdoor and urban settings.
  • They will work non-traditional hours.
  • They must have and maintain a valid driver's license and ability to operate an agency vehicle.
  • They will never have been convicted of any prohibited criminal or child abuse offense.

Physical Requirements of the Clinical Counselor:

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. X Constantly

  • Ability to navigate stairs. X Constantly
